The PUNCH: Supporters of the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State erupted in jubilation in the early hours of today (Sunday) when the results of Saturday’s governorship election showed that the candidate of the party, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, trounced the 15 other candidates that partook in the exercise.
The Guardian: After months of intense politicking and electioneering across Ekiti State, residents, yesterday, turned out in large numbers to elect a new helmsman to steer the state’s affairs for the next four years. In a largely peaceful process, voters who thronged the polling units to cast their ballots expressed optimism that the best man would emerge as the next governor.
The Nation: Mr. Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is the next governor of Ekiti State. He will take over the affairs of the state from incumbent governor Kayode Fayemi after he was declared winner of yesterday’s governorship election early this morning by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Sunday SUN: The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has written President Muhammadu Buhari, saying he demonstrated that he truly belongs to everybody and not to nobody as he had declared in his 2015 inaugural speech after being sworn-in as Nigeria’s President, in stating his commitment to serve the people without external influence.
