IGP Appoints Durosinmi As New Police Commissioner For Akwa Ibom State (See His Profile)
Following the approval of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Baba Alkali, Olatoye Durosinmi has resumed duties as the new Commissioner of Police for Akwa Ibom State.
He takes over from Andrew Amiengheme who was promoted to an Assistant Inspector General of Police. Naija News understands Durosinmi is the 31st Commissioner of Police for Akwa Ibom State.
A statement on Thursday by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Odiko Macdon confirmed that before his latest promotion and appointment, Durosinmi had served in various positions including the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, Imo State Police Command and had also served as Assistant Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, Akwa Ibom Police Command.
The new CP joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on the 3rd of March 1990.
He holds a B.Sc (Hons) degree in Sociology from the University of Ife, an LLB from the Delta State University, Abraka. He was called to Bar in 2001 and has a Master’s degree in Law (LLM) from the Lagos State University. His PhD in Law from Imo State University is in view.
Upon resumption, he has solicited the cooperation of the residents in crime fighting and other tasks to make his stay in office successful.
“The Akwa Ibom State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Baba Alkali, psc+, fdc, NPM, has approved the posting of a new Commissioner of Police to Akwa Ibom State Police Command. He is CP Olatoye Durosinmi. The new CP takes over from AIG Andrew Amiengheme, psc+, fdc.

“Appointed into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on the 3rd of March 1990, he has served in various capacities and attended Courses both locally and internationally.
“The CP enjoins the peace-loving People of Akwa Ibom State to remain law-abiding and accord him the needed co-operation to fight crime and criminality and continue to make the state one of the most peaceful in the country,” the PPRO stated.
