Couple Arrested For Allegedly Maltreating Housemaid In Kano

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC,) Kano command have arrested a couple, Ahmed Abdulkarim and Safiyya Shamsuddeen over allegedly maltreating a housemaid, a 14yrs old Nana Sha’una Yusuf.

This was contained in a statement signed by DSC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, CDPRO Kano, a copy made available on Friday to pressmen in Kano.

According to investigation by NSCDC, the couple resided at Na’ibawa Yankatako qtrs, Kumbotso LGA, Kano state.

He said that the victim was seriously beaten, insulted and molested by her employers which caused injuries and scars on her body, a trend that made her run away and was found roaming on the street.

He further disclosed that Nana Sha’una Yusuf hailed from Kazaure local govt of Jigawa State.

The statement however stated that ‘on interrogation, the two suspects confessed to the crimes.

They have since been arraigned before a court on count charges bordering on causing grievous hurt, unlawful labour and conspiracy.
