El-Rufai Speaks On Renaming Kaduna State, Zazzau State
The Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai on Monday debunked the report making round that the state had been renamed.
El-Rufai in his reaction to the report described it as fake news.
The special adviser on media and communication to the Governor, Muyiwa Adekeye in a post on his Twitter, called on the public to ignore the report.
Adekeye wrote: “Kaduna State has not been renamed. Ignore the elaborate piece of fiction that made the claim. It is fake news.”
There had been claims that the lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial district, Uba Sani sponsored the bill to rename Kaduna State.
Senator Sani, has, however, denied sponsoring such a bill.
According to Sani, the Senate is currently on break, adding that there is no such bill before the apex chamber.
Sani in a statement released on Monday wrote, “My attention has been drawn to a concocted, subversive, malicious and false information circulating in the social media claiming that President Muhammadu Buhari has signed a bill for the creation of Zazzau State, which I allegedly co-sponsored in the Senate with Senator Sulaiman Abdu Kwari.
“My immediate reaction to this outrageous and patently false piece of information is to wonder how mischievous elements can allow their imaginations to run riot, all in a bid to undermine their political opponent.
“I wondered how can people go to the extent of planning to destabilize their state and worsen the insecurity situation because Senator Uba Sani has gained the full support of the people and is the man to beat in the 2023 governorship election in Kaduna State.
“The story is therefore the handiwork of agents of destabilization and must be investigated by security agencies. Those behind this subversive act must be brought to book to serve as a deterrent to others.”
