Tinubu Govt Issues Warning To Nigerians Planning To Travel Abroad

The Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has come under heavy criticism over a twitter comment.

This is coming after Dabiri-Erewa reacted to a fracas which resulted in a clash between Indians and other African students including Nigerians.

NiDCOM’s Abike Dabiri-Erewa, in a tweet on Monday, wrote: “This happened Saturday, as a result of a fracas, during a football match between African and Indian Students.

“The Nigerian mission immediately took custody of 86 Nigerian students, invited the representatives of the Indian government, and got their commitment to ensure the safety of the students who then returned back to campus on Sunday.”

Replying to the statement, a tweep identified as @sensegiver1 said, “She should go to Indonesia and see how Nigerians are treated. Mumu (slang for foolish) woman supporting a failed government. She’s equally part of the failure. Eye service!”

Responding to the tweet, Dabiri-Erewa said, “Ode! You go to Indonesia, carry drugs, do cultism, and come begging to be rescued from death sentence . Thank God for NDLEA (National Drug Law Enforcement Agency) now saving people like you from death row.”

The comment has sparked mixed reactions from Nigerians on social media with many condemning the minister for making such offensive remark about Nigerians on the internet, while others backed her for lashing out to the ‘uncouth tweep’, saying that, like the average persons, public officers holders are humans and can react to bully however they deem fit.

Teeto-olayeni wrote: ‘’Abike Dabiri insulted and profiled Nigerians in Indonesia saying they do drugs and cultism and ask for help when caught. Meanwhile, she supports Bola Tinubu who was indicted for drug offences in the US. I am highly disgusted. It seems there is no sane person in APC.”

FS Yusuf wrote: “Ode” isn’t the issue here. Look at the stereotyping you dropped there. As a diplomat, you are the last person to do such thing. Please.”

Bennylinks wrote: ‘Very unprofessional.’

Ifeoma wrote: ‘Sis, I am so sorry you are getting this deplorable behaviour from these our ‘shidren’. We who know you from ages know your heart and patriotism. May everything continue to align for good for you and all yours. I apologise on behalf of the urchin and the adult enablers. Pele o’

APHIS wrote: ‘The adult enablers are even worst than these shidren..It’s very sad to see agbalagba dancing naked in the market.’

Ruona J Mejer wrote: ‘You dish out personal insults to public officials and expect them to ignore you. I’m amazed. Are they not someone’s mother, father, auntie, lover or colleague? They need to stomach your bullying because..? You do realise it’s like hitting someone but acting shocked they hit back?’

rish_simon15 wrote:Public office holder should learn how to manage her emotions ooooo . Profiling Nigerians as drug pushers with a public platform is crazy . It wasn’t the fact that she called him ode, she called Nigerians cultist and drug pushers on her damm page, adding more salt to injury to how other countries perceive us. Y’all comprehend.”
