2023 Presidency: Peter Obi Visits Ortom In Abuja (Photos)
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has visited Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State over the flood disaster in his state.
Naija News reports that Obi visited Ortom at his Abuja private residence to commiserate with him on the ravages of the floods in Benue resulting in high loss of lives, property and farmlands and massive displacement.
Speaking to reporters, the former Governor of Anambra State said he would be visiting some of the affected areas and discussed how the presidential candidates can assist affected states.
The LP Presidential candidate recalled that in 2012 that Benue, Anambra and other states were similarly affected and the Federal Government and Nigerians rallied in support of flood victims, especially the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has said about 2.5 million persons have been affected and over 603 persons killed following the flood disaster which hit parts of Nigeria in the last two months.
Houses and farmlands have been submerged in Lagos, Yobe, Borno, Taraba, Adamawa, Edo, Delta, Kogi, Niger, Plateau, Benue, Ebonyi, Anambra, Bauchi, Gombe, Kano, Jigawa, Zamfara, Kebbi, Sokoto, Imo, Abia States, and the Federal Capital Territory.
