The Labour Party (LP) on Friday revealed that the party is in talks with the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso and others for alliance ahead of the 2023 race.

The Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council of the party, Doyin Okupe revealed this during an interview on Channels TV on Friday.

The presidential candidate of LP, Peter Obi and former Governor of Kano State, Kwankwaso had earlier taken steps for an alliance.

The parties, however, failed to reach an agreement as both presidential candidates were not ready to step down to be running mates to the other.

Okupe while speaking on the possibilities of an alliance with Kwankwaso, said LP has not given up on allying with the former Governor of Kano State.

He further stated that Labour Party are also in talk with the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

According to Okupe, LP is out to work with the likes of PRP and ADC in the 2023 presidential election.

He said, “As a party, at our own campaign level, we are talking to the SDP; we are talking to even Kwankwaso and his team again. We are talking to PRP and ADC.

“I believe and I trust that God will help us that between now and December, we would bring together that alignment politically in the country and the country would be better for it.”
