Serie A: Osimhen Stars As Napoli Edge Past Udinese
Nigerian International, Victor Osimhen, maintained his outstanding goal-scoring form on Saturday, as Napoli defeated Udinese.
The Super Eagles Talisman scored once again as Napoli defeated Udinese 3-2 at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
The red-hot striker has now scored nine goals for Napoli in the Italian Serie A this season, and additionally, in his previous six league games, he has already scored seven goals.
The 22-year-old gave Napoli the lead after rising to his highest point to head in an Eljif Elmas cross.
Osimhen participated in the goal setup as Piotr Zielinski made it 2-0 in the 31st minute.
Zielinski was on the outskirts of the area when Chucky Lozano’s slide-rule ball found him, and Zielinski curled a right-foot shot into the top corner.
On a counterattack after 58 minutes, Napoli scored the third goal. Elmas darted inside to beat Marco Silvestri at the near post after Cameroon midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa spread the ball down the left for him.
Udinese scored a goal with 11 minutes remaining after Success chested down the ball for an Ilija Nestorovski half-volley.
Lazar Samardzic stole the ball from Kim Min-Jae in the 82nd minute, rushed forward, and fired low into the far bottom corner to make it 3-2.
But Napoli hung on to win and earn the three points, putting an end to any hopes of a comeback.
Osimhen will want to continue his recent scoring streak in the Eagles’ international exhibition match against World Cup-bound Portugal next Thursday.
After 15 games, Napoli now has 41 points, 11 points more than Lazio in second place.
