Manchester City Receives Hilarious Loan Bid For Haaland
Premier League reigning champions, Manchester City, has received an offer for their newly signed forward, Erling Haaland.
The Norwegian talisman has received a bold loan request from the seventh-tier team, Ashton United.
Naija News recalls that the 22-year-old switched from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester City last summer for a fee around £52 million.
Since his arrival, the forward has netted 23 goals in 18 outings for Pep Guardiola’s team across all competitions.
Even though Haaland is regarded as one of the finest players in the world, the Northern Premier League Premier Division team approached City about a 28-day loan that would last the whole month of the Qatar World Cup.
“Ashton United can confirm that the club has submitted a 28-day loan approach for Manchester City striker Erling Haaland” the Robins stated in a statement.
“With the current Premier League champions not in action until late December due to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, The Robins have reached out to our neighbours at the Etihad in order to keep Haaland’s match fitness with him not being involved in Qatar.” the statement continues.
“The club are yet to receive any response from Manchester City,” before later tweeting: “It’s no hoax guys, we are waiting on the response!” followed by a fingers-crossed emoji.
Michael Clegg, the manager of the club, said, “It just makes sense. City aren’t playing, and we want to help by keeping Erling fit, it makes more sense than him playing golf for six weeks.
“We think he will be a great fit for us, and would slot in with our squad dynamic really well.”
The club afterward joked that their website had collapsed as a result of the announcement.
Two teams will be promoted to the sixth-tier National League North at the conclusion of the season, with Ashton United now in 11th position, eight points behind league leaders Hyde United.
