2027: 'If Atiku Says He Is Not Contesting The Presidency Again, PDP Crisis Will Go Down' - Wike's Aide

A South-East governor under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who is loyal to the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike might have withdrawn his support for the G-5 in their battle for equality in the party.

The G-5 which consists of five aggrieved governors of the PDP had called for the resignation of the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu.

The aggrieved governors insisted that Ayu must resign to allow a Southern take over from him, adding that key positions in the party are dominated by northerners.

However, Ayu’s decision to remain in office has seen the governors vow not to support the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar.

A source that spoke with Punch revealed that a Governor loyal to Wike visited Atiku a few days ago and promised to vote for him.

According to the source, the South-East Governor whose name was not disclosed noted that he can not vote for another political party apart from PDP.

The source said, “The governor went to Abuja. He told the former VP that he would work for him and the PDP, saying he was following Wike because of their friendship and what he had benefited from him. He also said he would never work for any other candidate or political party apart from the PDP and Atiku.”
