Ex-Gov, Ohakim Reports At DSS After Bombing Of His Convoy
A former Governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim on Tuesday reported at the Department of State Services (DSS), in Owerri, the state capital.
This is coming barely 24 hours after gunmen attacked his convoy in the state which led to the death of four police orderlies.
Ohakim had visited the secret police to brief them on the attack.
The gunmen that attacked Ohakim’s convoy on Monday had thrown explosives at the former governor when they could not capture him.
Naija News had earlier reported that the former Governor was attacked at Oriagu in the Ehime Mbano Local Government Area on Monday evening.
Ohakim’s backup vehicle was bombed, which resulted in the death of the four security detail.
It was reported that Ohakim was with two of his children and was returning from a visit when the gunmen struck.
Ohakim speaking on the issue on Tuesday said the gunmen had the intention of killing him in the attack.
A source that spoke with The Nation said, “His Excellency was the main target but his brave driver was smart enough to beat them because they were driving to block him.
“Disappointed that their main target had escaped, they blocked his backup vehicle and burnt it. The four policemen with him were feared killed.”
