A stern warning has gone out to Nigerians by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to be wary of fake portals claiming to be recruiting ad-hoc staff.

The commission has disclosed that Nigerians should watch out for fake portals like this URL http://www.yournewclaims.com/Inec-Recriutment/ claiming to be recruiting for INEC.

Naija News reports that the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi confided in The Nations on Tuesday that the commission is no longer recruiting ad-hoc staff for the forthcoming general election.

According to him, the INEC official website for recruitment had been shut down since December 14 2022, therefore any portal claiming to be recruiting now is fake.

This platform recalls that INEC had in October 2022 cautioned unsuspecting Nigerians to be on the alert for similar fake portals claiming to be recruiting like this.

It would also be recounted in September, the commission announced that its official recruitment portal for the 2023 general election (www.pres.inecnigeria.org) would be opened to the public on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, by 8 a.m. and would be closed on Wednesday, December 14, by 8 p.m.

However reacting to the said fake portal, Oyekanmi revealed that “The website/blog below is advertising ad hoc staff positions for the 2023 general election.

“However, the commission is no longer recruiting ad hoc staff for the 2023 general election.

“The INEC ad hoc staff recruitment portal was officially shut down on December 14 2022.

“Therefore, the site, with the URL – http://www.yournewclaims.com/Inec-Recriutment/ is fake. It is intended to defraud unsuspecting members of the public. Nigerians should disregard it.”
