APC Blames PDP For Attacks In Osun, PDP Fires Back
The All Progressives Party (APC) in Osun State has blamed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the attack on the Chief of Staff to the Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Sunkanmi Obisesan.
Hoodlums reportedly attacked Sunkanmi Obisesan in the Ifofin area of Ilesa, Osun state, on Sunday. The APC chieftain reportedly sustained a leg injury and had to be taken to Wesley Guild Hospital, Ilesa for treatment.
Afterward, the Press Secretary to the Speaker, Kunle Alabi, confirmed the attack and alleged that the hoodlums that attacked Obisesan were linked to the ruling party, the PDP.
According to Alabi, Obisesan and other members of the APC were in Ifofin to receive the member representing Atakumosa East and West State Constituency at the Osun House of Assembly, Mr. Babatunde Komolafe when the attack happened.
The hoodlums reportedly swooped the APC chieftains and started throwing bottles at them which led to Obisesan’s hospitalization.
Aside from the attack on Obisesan, it was gathered that hoodlums attacked the campaign office of the former Commissioner for Works and Transport in the state, Mr. Remi Omowaye, on Sunday morning.
The opposition party in the state, the APC, also accused the PDP of the attack.
While reacting to the allegations that PDP’s hoodlums were behind the attacks on APC members and facilities, Osun State PDP Caretaker Chairman, Dr. Akindele Adekunle, debunked the allegations in a statement.
He said: “We are shocked by all these rumors of attacks. What we heard is that after the arrest of Asiri Eniba and Rasheed Oko Ilu during the July 16 polls, Mr. Oyetola and his team abandoned their recruited gangs.
“After the election, we were told nobody cared about the bad boys who were nurtured by them for four years.”
