Official Presidential Election Results For 25 LGAs In Borno

Nigerians are 40 days close to making another decision by electing a new set of leaders that will pilot the country’s affairs for the next four years after President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a Twitter thread earlier today, renowned Public Policy Expert, Dr Joe Abah, just like some concerned citizens, was asking the three front liners in the 2023 presidential elections some critical questions about how they intend to govern the country if elected into office.

Naija News reports that Dr Abah pinpointed some critical challenges bedevilling the country and asked how the presidential candidates, including Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC); Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), will deal with them accordingly.

According to Abah, the next President after Buhari would have to press the reset button to fix the nation after the 2023 elections.

The ex-Director General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) stressed that the winner must focus on policy issues.

Abah expressed concern over what the incoming would do regarding fuel subsidy oil theft, education, insecurity and others.

See below Dr Abah’s 10 Questions To 2023 Presidential Candidates

  1. When will you remove fuel subsidy enjoyed mainly by urban dwellers and neighbouring countries?
  2. Will you stop spending money on unproductive ventures that produce nothing, like Turn Around Maintenance of refineries and Ajaokuta
  3. Do you have the courage to stop oil theft?
  4. How will you fund Security, Infrastructure, Education and Health without borrowing more than you can afford to repay?
  5. Do you have the courage to eliminate multiple FX rates?
  6. Will you lead by example and cut government waste before demanding sacrifices of citizens?
  7. How will you tackle insecurity?
  8. What can you achieve with a Constitution that focuses on sharing rather than production?
  9. How will you get NASS on the same page?
  10. How will you ensure that we stop doing crazy things like creating new agencies with every law passed?”, he quipped.

The legal practitioner said he feels sorry for the incoming president of Nigeria. He stressed that Nigeria’s economic situation at the moment is due to policy decisions that do not benefit the majority and the lack of courage to change them.

“I feel sorry for him (next President) but he wanted the job”, Abah.
