We Are Shocked By Presidential Tribunal Judgement - Peter Obi Diaspora Group Speaks

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi has explained why he was unable to pay homage to the Oba of Lagos during his party’s campaign in Lagos State on Saturday.

Reacting on Monday to the uproar already generated by the development, Obi said it is not an issue that he was unable to visit the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu.

He clarified that adequate arrangement was made to visit the traditional ruler but they got a feedback that the royal father couldn’t receive them and they should make arrangement for another day.

According to Obi, his respect for Oba Akiolu is intact and the same for all traditional rulers, clarifying that the controversy generated by the issue is absolutely unnecessary.

The LP candidate explained on Monday during an interview on Channels Television that Lagos is not the first or only place where such has happened and people should stop making an issue out of it.

“I have the utmost respect for the Oba of Lagos, I have always done so to every other traditional ruler. They (royal fathers) are highly respected.

“This is not the only place where this had happened.

“We wanted to branch to the palace, but we were told that he was not readily available to receive us, and that we should apply and come some other day,” Obi said.

He then added that, “there is no issue with that.”

Naija News reports Obi on Saturday stormed Lagos and headed for the Alaba International Market and then the Tafawa Balewa Square, where a campaign rally was held with many of his supporters and party faithful in attendance.
