Police React As Abuja Pastor Storms Church Service Carrying AK-47
The spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has reacted after an Abuja-based pastor stormed church service on Sunday, February 12, 2023, carrying an AK-47 gun.
Naija News earlier reported that the presiding pastor of House on the Rock, in Abuja, Uche Aigbe caused a stir on Sunday after bringing a gun to the church
The incident reportedly took place during the second service, which frequently has a high turnout of the congregation who comes from different parts of the Federal Capital Territory.
The clergyman had boldly walked the pulpit while carrying a gun and many members of his congregation wondered about the reason for his actions.
An unflinching Aigbe walked up to the lectern, aware of the tension his action had created, without looking at his worshippers.
But as he made attempt to open his Bible, the preacher looked up and said teasingly, “Some people are looking for my trouble. And I came here prepared.
However, some Nigerians kicked against it and reached out to Police Spokesman on Twitter, saying it is illegal for him to carry a weapon.
Police Reacts
In a post via his Twitter page, Adejobi said the video has been forwarded to the Commissioner of Police at the FCT.
He stated that the clergyman will have a case to answer as no one is authorized to bear arms except an officer of the law.
He said: “I have forwaded to the CP FCT to act pls. Thanks But if its true, the pastor will have a case to answer. AK47? It falls under prohibited firearms in Niger and no one bears it except an officer of the law and not all of them have the right, selected sec operatives, but no individual has the right to bear it.”
