Election Results: Enugu Gov., Ugwuanyi Loses Senate Seat To LP Candidate
The Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has lost his bid to go to the Senate as Labour Party (LP) candidate, Okechukwu Ezeah, wins the senatorial election.
Naija News reports that Ugwuanyi, who is currently completing his second tenure as the governor of Enugu, had represented Udenu/Igbo-Eze North Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives for three terms of 12 years.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) while announcing the results on Sunday evening, declared that LP candidate, Okey Ezea, defeated Governor Ugwuanyi, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, to emerge Senator-Elect for Enugu North Senatorial zone.

Meanwhile, to avoid sanction for anti-party activities, the G5 governors reportedly instructed their loyalists to begin ‘underground’ work for their preferred presidential candidate.
Naija News reports that the G5 governors – Nyesom Wike of Rivers, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, and Samuel Ortom of Benue – have refused to back the presidential campaign of Atiku Abubakar.
According to The PUNCH, Atiku’s loyalists in Benue State, including former governor of the state, Gabriel Suswam, were busy reaching out to party faithful in their strongholds to drum up support for him.
An associate of the governor, who pleaded anonymity, said Suswam and Professor Iyorwuese Hagher had been doing a lot for Atiku since Ortom made his position clear that he was not going to support the PDP presidential candidate.
