Breaking: INEC Announces Likely Date For Rerun, Bye-elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission has halted the compilation of results in the Nkwerre/ Nwangele/ Njaba/ Isu Federal Constituency of Imo State.

The results sheets for the Njaba Local Government Area were missing, which led to the suspension of the collation of the constituency election results.

According to INEC, Harrison Nwadike, a candidate for the All Progressives Congress, received 6,784 votes, while Ugoing to Ozurigbo, a candidate for the People’s Democratic Party, received 16,846 votes.

The Labour Party candidate received 6,609 votes, placing third overall.

Roseline Ogechukwu, the returning officer for the election, declared the collation suspended because she was unable to return any candidate as the results from the four LGAs had not been fully tallied.

Any questions about the election were to be directed to the INEC office in Owerri, the state capital, per her directive, according to the returning officer.

In the three LGAs where results for the constituency election have been determined thus far, PDP has prevailed.
