#NigeriaDecides2023: SDP’s Akwashiki Wins Nasarawa North Senate Seat

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Sen. Godiya Akwashiki of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) the winner of Saturday’s election for the Nasarawa North Senatorial District.

Akwashiki was declared the winner with 44,471 votes in the early hours of Monday in Akwanga by INEC Returning Officer Prof. Ilemona Adofu of Federal University, Lafia.

Adofu defeated Alhaji Danladi Halilu Envuluanza of the All Progressives Congress, a former executive secretary of the National Judicial Commission (NJC), who earned 32,058 votes.

The New Nigeria Peoples Party received 4,083 votes, the All Progressives Grand Alliance received 1,455, and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) received 11,212 votes.

“Godiya Akwashiki SDP having scored the highest number of votes is hereby declared as the winner of the election conducted on the 25th of February for Nasarawa North North Senatorial District,” the returning officer announced on Monday morning.
