Man United: Ten Hag Told To Strip Fernandes Of Captaincy After 7-0 Defeat To Liverpool
Manchester United manager, Erik Ten Hag, has been advised to strip his attacking midfielder, Bruno Fernandes, of the captain’s armband after the Red Devil’s Sunday evening monumental defeat to rival Liverpool.
Naija News reports that Liverpool beat Man United 7-0 at Anfield in their English Premier League match on Sunday evening.
Liverpool has been struggling for points since the start of the season. Jurgen Klopp’s side, however, went on a rampage against the visiting team yesterday as their strikers, Cody Gakpo, Darwain Nunez, and Mohamed Salah, all made away with braces and a single goal from Roberto Firmino to take seven goals in the Sunday evening clash.
Reacting to the development, former Chelsea star, Chris Sutton, told Man United manager, Ten Hag to strip Fernandes of his captaincy.
Naija News understands that many have criticized Fernandes for his behaviour during the game at Anfield. This includes him asking Ten Hag to take him off as the game ran away from United.
“Whatever you think of Harry Maguire, the club captain, you would not catch him behaving like this on the pitch. Ten Hag dealt with the Cristiano Ronaldo problem.
“Now he needs to deal with Fernandes, starting with deciding whether he deserves to wear the armband in Thursday’s Europa League clash with Real Betis,” Sutton wrote in his Daily Mail column.
