Sultan Of Sokoto Meets Governorship Candidates [Photos]

The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, has met with governorship candidates in the state ahead of the rescheduled elections.

Naija News gathered the consultative meeting was held on Wednesday at the palace of the monarch in the Sokoto metropolis, the state capital.

It was learned that the meeting was aimed at discussions among political leaders that will usher in sincere commitments to walk the path of peace during and after the elections.

During the meeting, Abubakar cautioned the political parties and their candidates to eschew the path of violence, saying the winner destined by God has unknowingly emerged.

The first-class traditional ruler and spiritual leader also advised the winner of the election to be magnanimous in victory while losers must be gracious in defeat.

Speaking to the journalists after the meeting, the PDP governorship candidate, Saidu Umar, said his party’s presence at the meeting was a reaffirmation of violence-free elections, expressing that his campaign was on the crest of non-violence.

Umar, however, said the candidates welcomed Sultan’s sermon of embracing peaceful elections and accepting in good faith the eventual winner.

He said already Almighty Allah had ordained the new governor of the state, and it is God’s will that the chosen one should not be known until the process of election.
