The Labour Party (LP) has called on its supporters to come out en mass and vote for its candidate in Enugu State, Chijioke Edeoga, in the upcoming Governorship and State Assembly elections.

Naija News reports that this is coming after the Obedient Movement in Enugu reportedly endorsed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Peter Mbah.

But in a statement issued on Wednesday, the LP National Chairman, Julius Abure, denied media reports that the party has endorsed another candidate ahead of Saturday’s election.

The LP national chairman stated that Edeoga remains the party’s governorship candidate and choice of the Obident movement in the South East state.

Abure said some struggling candidates are trying to demarket the LP candidate instead of selling themselves to the public.

He asked party supporters to vote for Edeoga for governor and also vote for all candidates of the party contesting for House of Assembly seats.

The statement reads: “The attention of the Party has been drawn to some attempts by some struggling governorship candidates to tap into the anointing of the Obidients/Labour Party Candidate Hon.Barr, Chijioke Edeoga by trying to demarket our Candidate instead of selling themselves. ()

“For the umpteenth time, we want to reiterate that in Enugu State, the Obidients do not have any partnership with anybody or party and directs all our Enugu State Obidients and teeming party supporters to disregard any statements or moves by candidates of other political parties to harvest where they did not sow.

“Our Candidate is Hon. Barr. Chijoke Edeoga. Vote for him and all Labour Party Candidates for the House of Assembly Massively.”
