Onyekuru Offends His Club, Adana Demirspor For Mingling With Galatasaray’s Players
Adana Demirspor president Murat Sancak is not happy with Nigerian international Henry Onyekuru for mixing with Galatasaray players after his team’s defeat on Saturday.
Onyekuru and his teammates suffered their fifth Super Lig defeat of the season during the weekend. Two goals from Fredrik Midtsj and Nicolo Zaniolo at the NEF Stadyumu helped Galatasaray to add to the woes of Adana Demirspor.
After the defeat, Onyekuru walked up to Galatasaray’s players who were his teammates at the Turkish club between 2018 and 2021.
The 25-year-old, who is presently on loan from Olympiacos to Adana Demirspor, annoyed his current management when he was caught on camera mingling with the Galatasaray’s players.
In reaction to his decision to mingle with his former teammates after a defeat, Adana Demirspor president said, “I do not approve of Henry Onyekuru’s actions”.
“He ate the brush anyway. If you play for Adana Demirspor, you cannot do these movements in front of the cameras after a game we lost.”
Recall that Onyekuru spent three different loan stints with Galatasaray. The first of which was during the 2018–19 season, during which he assisted the team in winning the league title. He was at the club on loan during the 2019–20 and 2020–21 seasons.
He played 71 times for the Turkish side throughout his three stints, recording 22 goals and 12 assists.
Since he arrived at Adana Demirspor, Onyekuru who joined the Turkish club in January 2023, has scored eight goals and provided two assists in 22 games in all competitions.
