Oyo: Makinde Renames University After Ajimobi
The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has renamed the First Technical University, Ibadan, after his predecessor, Abiola Ajimobi.
Ajimobi was the Governor of Oyo State between 2011 to 2019 under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He was also the first politician to be elected as Governor twice in the state, which has been achieved by Governor Makinde who was recently re-elected.
Makinde in a post on his Twitter announced the decision to rename the university after his predecessor.
He noted that the university was established by the late ex-governor while in office.
The Oyo State Governor also took out time to congratulate all graduands of the university and urged them to be good ambassadors of the institution and Oyo State as they move to the next phase of their lives.
Makinde, in a post on his official Twitter account, wrote, “This morning, we attended the second convocation ceremony of the First Technical University, Ibadan. I congratulated all graduands of the university and urged them to be good ambassadors of Tech-U and Oyo State as they move to the next phase of their lives.
“I also announced that we have made the decision to rename the university the Abiola Ajimobi First Technical University in honour of my predecessor who established the university.”
