Senegal Has Shown Africa The Way - Ezekwesili Reacts As Opposition Candidate Leads Senegal Presidential Race

Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, has slammed critics over the misconception that her call for an independent investigation on the fake Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result of a 19-year-old student, Mmesoma Ejikeme, was about ethnicity.

Naija News reports that the co-convener of BringBackOurGirls, in a statement via Twitter, explained that the forensic investigation has nothing to do with ethnicity.

According to her, the authentic UTME highest scorer, Kamsiyochukwu Umeh is also from the same ethnic group as Mmesoma, hence, only illogical minds will turn the investigation into ethnic squabble.

Ezekwesili added that her call for an independent investigation is all about compliance with due process, adding she would not bother to engage those seeing things from ethnic lenses.

She wrote: “It takes illogical minds to turn my call for an independent investigation of the Mmesoma – @JAMBHQ saga into an ethnic squabble.

“Surely if it was about ethnicity, is Kamsiyochukwu Umeh, the top scorer of 2023 UTME, whom @JAMBHQ published, not of the same ethnic group as Mmesoma Ejikeme?

“The call for independent investigation is all about compliance with Due Process to transparently learn more when breaches occur.

“In democratic public administration, Due Process is the only way to correct the myriad of distortions that hobble our progress. There are no short cuts around this, whether we like it or not.

“There’s a reason I don’t bother to engage irredentist opinion on my TL. Such an extremely unreasonable way of thinking seeing things from ethnic lenses is never worth signifying.

“Only those who want to have healthy conversations should attract notice of their presence on your TL if you think like me. God forbid I ever start dignifying nonsense talk.

“Meanwhile, I have taken notice of the investigation launched by the House of Reps @HouseNGR and Anambra State Government @Anambrastate_ng respectively to enable the public learn more about the Exam fraud.”
