37 Killed As Gunmen Attack Plateau Community

In a recent attack on the village of Farin Lamba in the Vwang area of Jos South LGA, Plateau, gunmen reportedly killed eight people, among them an eight-month-old baby.

The attack occurred Sunday night, as per Rwang Tengwong, the national publicity secretary of the Berom Youth Movement, a socio-cultural group.

Tengwong provided details about the incident, stating, “The gunmen invaded the village at about 9:45 p.m. on Sunday in a car and shot sporadically at the victims.”

Among the victims was an eight-month-old baby who was with his father returning from the hospital.

The recent attack follows a series of violent incidents in the region, including the killing of nine people in Sabon Gari community, Mangu LGA, just days prior.

The increasing violence has prompted concerns due to the loss of lives and the “massive destruction of farmlands, houses and other properties.”

Tengwong praised the efforts of the Operation Save Haven operatives and the government’s deployment of additional security to the endangered areas.

He urged local residents to cooperate with these security agencies to restore peace to their communities.

In response to the escalating violence, Caleb Mutfwang, the governor of Plateau, has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Mangu LGA.
