Niger Gov, Bago Sacks Predecessor’s Appointees, Dissolves Commissions, Boards
The Governor of Niger State, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Umar Bago has ordered the immediate dissolution of all statutory Commissions, Boards, and Parastatals, and the termination of all political appointees who were appointed before May 29, 2023.
This announcement, made by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman, stated that both tenured and non-tenured Commissions, Boards, and Parastatals are included in the governor’s directive.
He urged officials to comply promptly with the order.
In recognition of their contributions to the state, the SSG asked those affected by the decision to hand over all government properties, including official vehicles, to the highest-ranking directors in their respective organizations.
Lawal Tanko, an Information Officer in the SSG’s Office who signed the statement, conveyed Governor Umar Bago’s wishes for success in future endeavours to all members of the dissolved Commissions, Boards, Parastatals, and former political appointees.
