Kanu Officially Takes Charge At Enyimba
Nigerian former professional footballer, Nwankwo Kanu, has been officially appointed as supervisor of Nigeria Premier League (NPL) champions, Enyimba.
Naija News understands that the former Super Eagles captain will take over the leadership of the club from Felix Anyansi-Agwu.
Kanu’s appointment was confirmed in a statement issued on Monday by Abia State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Prince Okey Kanu.
Enyimba won the Nigerian Premier League last season. The 46-year-old is expected to strengthen the club to win more laurels for the Peoples’ Elephant.
The Aba giants will also compete in the CAF Champions League, where they will look to win a third title.
Based on records, Enyimba currently is the most successful club in Nigeria’s football league, having won nine NPL, two CAF Champions League, two CAF Super Cup and four Federation Cup titles.
Tottenham Manager Wants To Meet With Harry Kane
Meanwhile, Tottenham manager, Ange Postecoglou, said he would have to meet with the club’s talisman Harry Kane before the commencement of the 2023-2024 season.
Harry Kane, who is Tottenham Hotspur’s all-time highest goalscorer, wants to leave the club this summer for a more competitive club.
However, the club seem unready to allow their most prolific footballer to leave the club this summer even though the 29-year-old England international has just a season left in his contract with the club.
Even if they decide to let him go, Spurs are determined not to sell Harry Kane to a domestic rival this summer which has ruled Manchester United out of the race to sign him.
Amidst all his suitors, Bayern Munich has proven to be the most determined side that wants to sign him this summer. Unfortunately, the Spurs have turned down their first bid.
Earlier today, reports claimed that Spurs have also rejected Bayern’s second bid worth around £70 million, including add-ons, while Spurs continue to try to renew his contract.
Amidst that, Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou had said he would meet with Kane to present his vision for the club to the English striker.
“Kane is one of the premier strikers in the world and I want him involved here,” the Tottenham manager said in a press conference on Monday, July 10.
“I just want to introduce myself to Harry, give him my vision, get an understanding from him over what his vision is, and try to be successful.
“My conversation with him will be about how we can make this club successful and there is no doubt that is what he wants as well,” he said.
Asked if he had been given any assurances over Kane’s future, the Australian manager said: “No, I haven’t had any assurances and I wouldn’t expect any assurances. For me, I am trying to concentrate on what I know now and Harry is part of the squad.
“I don’t think it is my role to sit there and sort of treat people in a manner because of their circumstances. I am big on treating everyone the same.”
