Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has made two more appointments to his cabinet.

The development was contained in a statement issued on Friday morning in Maiduguri, the state capital, through Zulum’s Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Malam Isa Gusau.

The statement confirmed the appointment of Barkindo Saidu as the new Director-General of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).

Governor Zulum also approved the appointment of Malam Abdulkadir Harun as Executive Secretary, Borno State Arabic and Sangaya Education Board (BOSASEB).

Naija News understands that Barkindo, 54, hails from Gwoza Local Government Area, while Harun, 59, hails from Ngala.

Until his appointment, Barkindo was Executive Secretary/Programme Manager of Borno State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS & Malaria, BOSACAM.

Zulum noted that Barkindo’s appointment was based on excellent credentials and a record of public service.

The governor congratulated the two appointees and expressed confidence that they will deploy all their past experiences to serve the people of Borno and humanity with excellence.

Zulum Appoints Former Minister As SSG

Earlier, Governor Zulum appointed former Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development, Bukar Tijani as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

In a statement issued on Wednesday by his spokesman, Malam Isa Gusau, the Borno governor also reappointed Professor Isa Hussaini Marte as his Chief of Staff.

The statement further conveyed Zulum’s congratulatory message to Tijani, stating that he looks forward to utilizing the former minister’s huge experience for effective and efficient coordination of Government activities, especially in the area of agriculture and food security, Naija News reports.

The statement noted that Zulum considered Tijani’s very high-level experience from his services as minister from July 2011 to September 2013 and as Assistant Secretary-General/Assistant Director-General (ASG/ADG) of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO).

Zulum also congratulated Marte on his re-appointment and looks forward to him resuming office with his proven efficiency in coordinating all affairs of the government house.

The governor said Marte’s excellent leadership will enable the full attainment of his bold vision that has been substantially achieved during the first term and is now being continued with greater zeal.
