This Is A Joke Carried Too Far – Sowore Knocks FG Over ₦8,000 Monthly Palliative
Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore has berated President Bola Tinubu’s administration over its announcement to pay the sum of ₦8,000 to 12 million Nigerian families for six months to cushion the effects of petrol subsidy removal.
Naija News reports that Tinubu had unveiled plans to transfer ₦8,000 to 12 million poor households in the country.
He said the money would be sent to poor Nigeria within the next six months.
The president’s plan was contained in a letter to the House of Representatives over the 800 million dollars loan request of former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration for the social safety net programme.
He urged the House of Representatives to secure the loan.
Reacting to the development, Sowore described Tinubu’s administration as a government of ‘renewed shege’.
Speaking via Twitter, the political activist lamented that the Federal Government has no respect for the Nigerian people.
Sowore wrote: “The govt of #RenewedShege! So, @officialABAT is going to provide palliative of N53 per day for 6 months?
“Jokes carried too far! These guys don’t rate Nigerians! #Revolutionnow.”
Pray Before Collecting Tinubu ₦8,000 Palliative
Meanwhile, Former Kaduna Central lawmaker, Shehu Sani has reacted to President Bola Tinubu’s plan to pay ₦8,000 palliatives.
Speaking via a post on Twitter, Sani warned the proposed recipients of the ₦8,000 to pray before receiving it, as the N10,000 introduced by the previous administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari plunged people into deeper poverty.
According to him, “People who collected Buhari’s ‘jazzed’ 10k ended up in deeper poverty.Pray before you collect the next 8k.”
