Isco Joins Real Betis After Over Seven Months Without A Club
After over seven months in the football wilderness, Spanish attacking midfielder, Isco, has been given a second chance in the game, thanks to Real Betis.
Isco made his name in the world of elite football when he left Málaga for Real Madrid for a transfer fee worth €30 million on July 1, 2013.
While at the Spanish La Liga giants, the 31-year-old Spanish midfielder played 353 games out of a possible 450 games in all competitions. In those games, the out-of-favour Spain international scored 53 goals and provided 57 assists.
He reached the climax of club elite football at Real Madrid where he won a joint record 5 UEFA Champions League titles, four FIFA Club World Cups, three La Liga, and one league Cup.
Unfortunately for him, Real Madrid allowed him to leave the club for free on August 7, 2022, which marked the beginning of the decline in his football career.
He managed to join Sevilla for free but didn’t spend more than four months at the Spanish club before he was released.
Since December 21, 2022, Isco has been without a club until recently when the manager of Real Betis, Manuel Pellegrini showed interest in him.
Reports claimed that Pellegrini insisted on signing the attacking midfielder even though the player has been without a club and training alone for over seven months.
Earlier today, July 26, Pellegrini got his wish as Isco signed a one-year deal with Betis which will keep him at the club throughout the 2023-2024 season.
