Rasmus Hojlund Completes Move To Manchester United
Manchester United have completed the signing of Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta.
The Premier League side who have been on the lookout for a striker since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo last summer and the fitness issues of Anthony Martial, paid a whopping £72 million to acquire the services of Rasmus Hojlund.
Before they settled for Hojlund, they showed interest in Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen but Napoli’s asking price frustrated them out of the negotiations. They showed interest in English striker Harry Kane but Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy insisted that he won’t sell the 30-year-old to a Premier League club.
Hence, 20-year-old Rasmus Hojlund became the best option and has signed a five-year deal with the Red Devils which will keep him at the club until June 30, 2023.
The Danish striker who joined Atalanta in 2022 and played 34 Serie A games last season, is United manager Erik ten Hag’s third summer addition. Before his arrival, United signed Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana for £47.2 million and Mason Mount from Chelsea for £55 million.
After completing his move to Manchester United, Rasmus Hojlund said, “It is no secret I have been a fan of this great club since I was a small boy.
“I dreamed of walking out at Old Trafford as a Manchester United player.”
He added, “I am incredibly excited by this opportunity to turn that dream into a reality, and I am determined to repay the faith the club has shown in me.
“It is still early in my career, but I know I am ready to make this step up and play with this group of world-class players.
“Once I had spoken to the manager, I knew this environment would be perfect for my development; I am relishing the opportunity to work with one of the best coaches in the world.
“Under his guidance and support I, know that I am capable of achieving great things together with my new teammates in this special club.”
