Victor Osimhen Out With Ankle Injury

Nigerian and Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen has reportedly sustained a right ankle injury which reportedly forced him off the club’s training session on Tuesday, August 8, 2023.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Osimhen left the Napoli training session after colliding with new arrival Natan de Souza and suffering a serious injury to his right ankle.

He put an ice pack on his wounded ankle right away as he left the field, clearly in pain. Preliminary tests reveal that his ankle is sprained, but this shouldn’t keep him out of action for too long.

The squad is hoping he will be fit for their Serie A opener against Frosinone on August 19.

The Super Eagles striker just completed his recovery from a muscle injury that prevented him from participating in Napoli’s previous preseason game against Augsburg on Sunday. Additionally, he had skipped Girona’s exhibition game due to fitness issues.

The 24-year-old Nigerian forward has only partially trained with the team up until Tuesday before he was hit with another Injury.

Although Osimhen has regularly been linked to a high-profile departure from Napoli this summer, he will likely sign a new contract with the Italian side.

Last season, Victor Osimhen scored 26 goals and provided five assists in 32 league games for Napoli to help them win their first Scudetto in 33 years.
