Moment Wike Received Loud Applause After Introduction As Minister-designate (Video)
The immediate past Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, received a loud ovation during the swearing-in of ministers-designate at the banquet hall of the State House on Monday.
During his introduction as a minister-designate from Rivers by the presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, the guests applauded Wike, and a burst of raucous laughter erupted in the hall afterward as he tried to suppress a smile.
The Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, and the former governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, led the cheerleaders as the minister-designate took a bow as his citation was read.
Wike’s reaction after taking his oath of office elicited more laughter from the audience. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain shook and held President Bola Tinubu’s hand for longer as both men grinned and laughed into the cameras.
There was even more laughter as the former Rivers governor walked to his seat in a somewhat cocky and unusual manner.
President Tinubu has named Wike as minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). He was one of 48 ministerial nominees screened by the Senate.
