Several reactions have trailed the takeover of power by the military in Gabon, days after the conduct of its 2023 presidential election.
Naija News earlier reported that the Gabonese President, Ali Bongo, had been deposed by the military, days after winning the presidential election.
According to the BBC, soldiers were said to have appeared on Gabonese national television in Gabon to announce that they had taken power.
The coupists also announced the annulment of Saturday’s election and the dissolution of the democratic government in the country.
Bongo, who came to power after the death of his father in 2009, won a third term in an election which opposition argued was heavily disputed.
Following the development, some netizens took to the microblogging platform, X, to express their reactions, months after the military took over power in Niger Republic.
See some of the reactions below.

Democracy is actually interesting. So over 60% of the Gabonese that participated in the election voted for this Gabon President, Ali Bongo, to remain in office. I think he is very popular among his people . We should all condemn military interference.pic.twitter.com/ECaVa4d5UM

Gabon.
These politicians have set the gains of the democratic struggles of the late 80s and 90s back. They never took part in those struggles, so safeguarding the gains was never of any interest to them. Today, it is Gabon; tomorrow, it'll be Zimbabwe – as militarization…
