Ansu Fati Set To Seal His Move To Brighton From FC Barcelona
FC Barcelona forward, Ansu Fati who was projected to be the next Lionel Messi, is on the verge of moving to Brighton on a season-long loan.
The 20-year-old Spanish forward is expected to arrive in England for his medical later today, August 31, and then sign the deal that will keep him at Brighton until June 30, 2024.
Both FC Barcelona and Brighton have verbal agreement in place for a loan deal that comes with no buy option and the Premier League side will cover the main part of Ansu Fati’s salary.
Fati is no longer a regular at Barcelona, where they need to make room on their squad so they can sign Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo on a short-term loan.
Tottenham were also interested in Fati, but it’s believed that Brighton’s style of play under manager Roberto de Zerbi convinced him to sign with them.
The move is a significant win for Brighton, who will play in European football for the first time in their history this season after qualifying for the Europa League.
Ansu Fati, who was born in Guinea-Bissau but chose to play for Spain and was a member of their World Cup squad last year, is regarded as one of the game’s most promising young players.
In 2021, he extended his deal with Barcelona through 2027 and the club added a buyout clause of 1 billion euros to the deal.
