Manchester United have completed the signing of another goalkeeper, Altay Bayindir, less than two months after signing Andre Onana from Inter Milan.

The Red Devils paid £4.3 million to Turkish side Fenerbahce to grab the signature of the 25-year-old Turkish goalkeeper.

Altay Bayindir who is expected to be the backup goalkeeper to Onana signed a four-year deal with United which will keep him at the club until June 30, 2027.

Bayindir was a crucial member of the Fenerbahce team last season. He helped them to finish second in the Super Lig and won the Turkish Cup.

The goalkeeper made his name in Turkish football at Turkish club Ankaragucu where he made 166 appearances and recorded 53 clean sheets. He joined Fenerbahce in 2019.

Manchester United were left with no choice after Dean Henderson decided to join Crystal Palace on a permanent deal worth £20 million this summer.

Also, the departure of David de Gea who spent 12 years at Old Trafford made it more eminent for the club to get a goalkeeper that will compete with Onana who joined United from Inter Milan in July for a transfer fee worth £47.2 million.

After completing his move to Manchester United, Altay Bayindir said, “It is a huge honour to join Manchester United and become the first Turkish player to represent this incredible club.

“I have a passion for success, and I will give everything to help this special group of players to achieve our ambitions.

“I cannot wait to start working with such an experienced goalkeeping unit. We will support each other and drive high standards every day so that each of us is ready to perform whenever called upon.”
