Gunmen Kill Three IDPs In Benue Community

Some yet-to-be-identified gunmen have reportedly killed three Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Benue State.

Reports made available to newsmen revealed that the individuals had gone fishing in the Gwer West Local Government Area of the state when some suspected armed men accosted them.

Confirming the incident, the chairman of Agagbe IDP camp in Gwer West LGA, Ibaah Terna Jacob, told Daily Trust that the citizens were killed on Monday.

He identified the victims as Igbahemba Abua, Iorhemba Cletus and Akaa Clifford.

Jacob said that the trio had gone fishing in the Gbange/Tongov council ward of Gwer West and did not return when it was night.

He said during a search for them, an eyewitness informed them that they were chased by armed invaders who opened gunfire on them.

The camp manager added that by Tuesday morning, the corpses of the trio were found after an intense search for them and that the bodies were immediately buried.

The state command of the Nigeria Police Force, however, is yet to confirm the incident as of reporting time.
