Tear Gas Fired As Fubara Storms Assembly Complex, House Members Flee
The Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Monday morning, stormed the State Assembly complex while House members fled for safety as tear gas was fired outside the Complex.
The development comes hours after a fire broke out at the Assembly Complex at about 10pm on Sunday.
Naija News learnt that a fresh crisis had engulfed the Rivers State House of Assembly amidst rumours of an impending impeachment procedure against Fubara.
According to Channels TV, a protest is also ongoing outside the Complex.
Rivers Assembly Begins Impeachment Process Against Fubara
Meanwhile, the Rivers State House of Assembly has begun an impeachment process against Fubara.
According to TVC News, the members of the House of Assembly commenced the impeachment process around 8:00 a.m. on Monday at the legislative building.
Also, the assembly has suspended the Leader of the House, Hon. Edison Ehie, and four other lawmakers over the arson attack on the House.
It was gathered that 24 out of 32 lawmakers removed Ehie and four others from their positions.
