Kano Hisbah Sacks Officer For Undermining Anti-Immorality Campaign

The Kano State Hisbah Board has terminated the employment of one of its commandants for undermining and obstructing the ongoing campaign against immorality and social vices in the state.

The board had recently initiated an operation to combat social vices, known as “Operation Kau da Badala,” which translates to “Operation Against Immorality” in the state.

The Commandant General of Hisbah, Sheikh Aminu Daurawa, confirmed the officer’s dismissal to the media in Kano on Tuesday. Additionally, five other officers are currently under investigation.

He revealed that the dismissed officer had been collaborating with individuals engaging in unholy acts in the state.

Since I assumed office, I have been working diligently to rid the board of corrupt elements, making it a different organization from what it used to be. We have dismissed a Deputy Superintendent of Hisbah and declared him wanted. If found, he should be arrested and prosecuted,” Daurawa stated.

The officer in question had been colluding with hotel operators to ensure that Hisbah did not target their establishments during its operations.

When we conducted our raids, the hotel owners involved in such activities became apprehensive, thinking that Hisbah had changed its ways. They paid him money to avoid inspections of their hotels. One hotel operator even inquired about what we needed for their support,” Daurawa added.
