Tottenham Hotspur winger, Richarlison, has confirmed that he would undergo surgery to treat a pelvic injury after “suffering for eight months.”

Richarlison was an unused substitute during Spurs’ Monday night match against Chelsea, which ended in a 4-1 defeat for his team.

The 26-year-old Brazil international has started seven of Tottenham’s first ten Premier League games this season, scoring one goal and providing three assists.

Richarlison was also left out of Brazil’s squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Colombia and Argentina in November.

In reaction to his recent woes, Richarlison who joined Tottenham Hotspur from Everton for a transfer fee worth £60 million in July 2022, told ESPN Brazil that the “time has come to rest” and focus more on his issues.

“The last few months haven’t been easy for me. I’ve also been suffering with my health,” he said.

“I’ve already spoken to the doctors and I’ll soon have surgery on my pubis.”

He added, “I’ve been suffering for eight months, fighting for the national team and my club and I didn’t look for me.

“I think the time has come to rest, take a break. Let’s see the next few days, soon I’ll do what’s best for me.”

Richarlison still has until June 30, 2027, before his contract with Tottenham Hotspur expires. His unavailability to coach Ange Postecoglou at this point would be a huge blow to Spurs.

Recall that the second-placed Spurs would be without Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie in the next three Premier League games after they were shown a red card each in the game against Chelsea on Monday.

Also, Spurs lost midfielder James Maddison and defender Micky van de Ven to different degrees of injuries in the same game.

Before now, Ben Davies, Ryan Sessegnon, Ivan Perisic, and Manor Solomon have been battling to return to full fitness.
