Tight Race Between Ododo And Ajaka As INEC Resumes Collation In Kogi
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has resumed the collation of results for the Kogi State governorship election.
The process resumed at the Headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Lokoja, the state capital.
Recall as earlier reported by Naija News that INEC went on break after results from 18 local government areas had been collated.
The local governments collated before recess were Okenne, Adavi, Mopamoro, Ofu, Yagba East, Yagba West, Kabba/Bunu, Okehi, Idah, Omala, Bassa, Alamaboro, Ankpa, Dekina, Ajaokuta, Ijumu, Ogorimagogo, and Kogi Koto Karfe.
The local governments yet to be compiled are Ibaji, Igalamala and Lokoja local government areas.
It was learnt the results of the three local governments have arrived.
The results so far announced in Kogi State show the election is a tight race between the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Usman Ododo and the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Muri Ajaka.
Of the declared results, the governorship candidate of the APC, Usman Ododo has won in 11 LGAs, his Social Democratic Party (SDP) rival, Muri Ajaka has won in six, while Leke Abejide of the Africa Democratic Party (ADC) has won in one LGA.
INEC To Hold Fresh Elections In 59 Kogi Polling Units On Nov 18
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Sunday, announced that fresh polls will be conducted in 59 polling units in the Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area of the state.
According to the electoral body, the fresh election will be held next Saturday, November 18, 2023.
INEC National Commissioner, Mohammed Haruna, announced this in a statement on Sunday night.
