Rivers Assembly Faction Loyal To Fubara Confirms New Commissioner For Appointment
A faction of the Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Victor Oko Jumbo, on Monday, screened and confirmed the appointment of Gagogo Israel Iboroma (SAN) as a Commissioner-designate.
The faction sat at the Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt to screen and confirm the Commissioner-nominee.
There are insinuations that Iboroma would be sworn into office by Governor Siminalayi Fubara later today, as the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, to take over from Professor Zaeccheus Adangor.
Naija News recalls lawmakers loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, elected Hon. Victor Oko Jumbo, representing Bonny Constituency, as the new Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Jumbo, on Wednesday, took the oath of office as the factional Speaker of the Assembly following his election by two lawmakers loyal to the state governor.
Jumbo expressed willingness to work with Governor Fubara, stating that he has directed the Clerk of the Assembly to communicate the emergence of a new leadership of the assembly to the executive.
Oko-Jumbo declared that the actions carried out by the faction led by Martin Amaewhule were null and void.
Also, Governor Fubara gazetted Executive Order 001, relocating the State House of Assembly to the Auditorium, Admin Block of the Government House, Port Harcourt.
The Governor explained that the decision was taken because the current House of Assembly complex is unfit for use after it was burnt on October 29th, 2023, during the political crisis which rocked the state.
