Drama As Rivers Elders Dump Wike, Support Fubara

The Concerned Rivers Citizens (CRC) has said that it has expelled some of its members suspected to be loyalists of former governor Nyesom Wike.

The group said that the alleged imposters were expelled for their selfish and malicious activities.

Speaking via a statement on Tuesday by its President, Jackson Thomas and Secretary-General, Kelvin Eguono, the CDC expressed shock that the accused would go as far as blackmailing governor Siminalayi Fubara.

We are shocked that these individuals would go to the extent of blackmailing Governor Simi Fubara in an attempt to please their paymasters while ignoring the real issues on the ground.

“We want to make it clear that we are not part of their scheme and do not support their actions,” the statement said.

The group emphasised that it is a non-partisan body aimed at promoting good governance and accountability, stressing that they are not loyal to either Wike or the incumbent governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

We are committed to promoting the truth and the rule of law in Rivers State, and we will not be swayed by personal interests or political affiliations,” it added.

Naija News reports that Wike and his successor, Fubara have been in a face-off since 2023.

The situation had led to a political crisis that has continued to linger despite the intervention of President Bola Tinubu and other stakeholders.
