Marketers Predict Increase In Price Of Cement

The House of Representatives is taking a firm stance against the rising cost of cement in Nigeria, with citizens expectantly hoping for a resolution that could lead to more affordable prices.

This comes after the management of Dangote Cement failed to attend a scheduled parliamentary hearing, which led the House of Representatives Joint Committee on the Arbitrary Increase in the Price of Cement to consider drastic measures.

The committee, clearly frustrated by the absence of Dangote Cement’s representatives, has threatened to issue arrest warrants should they fail to appear at the next hearing.

This hearing is part of a broader effort by the committee to address complaints about the escalating prices of cement, which have significantly impacted construction costs across the country.

Historically, efforts by Nigerian lawmakers to regulate the price of cement have met with resistance from manufacturers, who have not reduced prices despite previous legislative interventions.

The current move by the House of Representatives marks a continued effort to make housing and construction more affordable for Nigerians by potentially bringing down the cost of cement, a crucial building material.

Here is the price list for cement this week:

Price Of Dangote Cement

The current price of Dangote cement varies from ₦6,500 to ₦7,000 per 50kg bag, depending on the location.

Price Of BUA Cement

The retail price of BUA cement in Nigeria is between ₦6,600 to ₦7,000.

Price Of POP Cement

Pop White Cement or Plaster Cement – ₦7,900
