Protest: Falana, Adegboruwa, NBA To Lead Meeting With IGP
In a bid to ensure a peaceful and crisis-free series of public meetings, rallies, and processions, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa has written to the Inspector General of Police, requesting the contact details of designated officers who will oversee these events.
Adegboruwa, acting as solicitor for the “Take it Back Movement,” has outlined various locations for the planned activities, which include:
– Eagle Square, Abuja
– Alausa Park, Lagos
– Opposite Wema Bank, Akpakpava Lane, Benin City
– Opposite the School of Agric, Bauchi
– Rosewale Filling Station, Iwo Road, Ibadan
– Maiduguri Roundabout, opposite State Stadium, Damaturu, Yobe State
– Rainbow Roundabout and Pantani Stadium, Rivers
– Freedom Park, Osogbo
According to Channels TV, Adegboruwa also addressed the Inspector General’s request for a meeting on Tuesday, suggesting that the meeting be expanded and held virtually to accommodate all stakeholders.
He emphasized that the meeting would be led by prominent human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) and include representatives from the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), other lawyers, and civil society organizations.
The solicitor underscored the importance of these meetings, rallies, and processions being conducted peacefully, and highlighted the need for effective coordination with the police to prevent any disruptions or crises.
He emphasized the significance of open communication and collaboration between the authorities and organizers to uphold the citizens’ rights to peaceful assembly and expression.
