Lagos Govt Deploys RRS, Task Force To Streets Ahead Of Protest

The Lagos State Government has deployed police officers of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and Task Force to the streets ahead of the nationwide hunger and hardship protests scheduled to commence on August 1-10.

Naija News learnt that the security operatives were seen engaging in patrol exercises on Wednesday within different streets in the state.

According to Channels TV, the operation took off from Alausa, Ikeja through the old Tollgate, Ojota, Ogudu, and Iyana Oworo to the 3rd Mainland Bridge axis.

Also, some officers were reportedly seen matching through Lekki streets to the Lekki Tollgate area.

FG Begs Nigerians To Shun Planned Protest

Meanwhile, the Federal Government has urged Nigerians to reconsider the planned nationwide protest set for Thursday, August 1.

Naija News reports that this appeal was made on Wednesday by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, during a press conference in Abuja attended by key government officials.

Akume emphasized that protests are not the solution to the country’s challenges, which the government is actively working to address.

To achieve this goal, Akume highlighted the importance of peace and stability, as these are crucial for building trust, fostering cooperation, and achieving shared objectives.
