The Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, has declared a 24-hour curfew in the Katagum Local Government Area of the state.

Naija News understands that the decision is due to the increasing security crisis following the recent protest by the citizens in the region.

The statement regretted the series of violent incidents, including the destruction of public property, theft, and victimization in the area.

In response, the governor issued a directive communicated in a statement released to journalists in Bauchi on Monday by the Secretary to the State Government, Ibrahim Muhammad Kashim.

The statement mentioned that Governor Mohammed has instructed all security agencies to swiftly address the situation, apprehend those responsible, and bring them to justice.

Additionally, the governor called on law-abiding citizens to support security efforts during this challenging time.

No fewer than 52 protesters were said to have been arrested last Friday for alleged violent activities in the aftermath of the nationwide protest, which commenced last Thursday in the state.

The State Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Mohammed, while providing an update to journalists on the arrest said a policeman was injured in the protest.

The CP revealed that the arrests were made for breaches of public order and unlawful assembly across the state.
