2024 Olympics: Team Nigeria Bows Out Of Long Jump, Wrestling
Nigerian athletes continue their poor run at the 2024 Olympics in Paris as Ese Brume, Ruth Usoro, and Prestina Ochonogor failed to make the podium in the women’s long jump.
American Tara Davis-Woodhall won gold, followed by Malaika Mihambo of Germany who secured silver, and Jasmine Moore of the US claimed bronze.
In women’s wrestling, Odunayo Adekuoroye fought hard but unfortunately lost in the quarterfinals, missing out on a spot in the semifinals.
Similarly, in the women’s canoe single 200m event, Ayomide Bello and Beauty Akinaere Otuedo couldn’t progress to the semifinals.
With two days to the end of the 2024 Olympics, world record holder in 100m hurder, Tobi Amusan remains Nigeria’s best chance of winning a medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Note that the Paris Olympics will end on Sunday, August 11, and Team Nigeria are nowhere to be found on the medals table at the time of writing.
Later today, most Nigeria enthusiasts will watch eagerly as Amusan competes in the semi-final of the women’s 100m hurdle.
Recall that she made it to the semi-final with a time of 12.49s ahead of America’s Alaysha Johnson (12.61s) and Janeek Brown (12.84s).
Amusan must finish in the top two of her heat to qualify for the final which will take place on Saturday, August 10.
