Gunmen Kidnap Anambra Commissioner And His Wife
The Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon Patrick Aghamba, has been reportedly kidnapped.
Naija News learnt that the commissioner was whisked away alongside his wife by unknown gunmen.
According to the Daily Post, sources revealed that the assailants shot dead an aide to the commissioner, identified as Mr ABK Offiah.
However, while no security agency or government has yet issued an official statement to confirm the development, reports are that the commissioner, his wife and their aide were en route to Abuja when the assailants attacked.
It is believed they were travelling to participate in the wedding of the daughter of the state governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, whose traditional wedding took place last weekend.
Gunmen Abduct Over 20 Medical, Dental Students In Benue
In other news, a group of over 20 medical and dental students, along with a House Officer, were kidnapped by gunmen in Benue State.
According to the Daily Post, the students, who were en route to the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) annual convention in Enugu, were ambushed during their journey.
The victims are reportedly from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos, and the incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. in the Otukpo area.
The Benue State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Catherine Anene, confirmed the abduction and stated that an investigation into the incident is underway.
“Yes, the report of kidnapping is true. The report was received around 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and an investigation is ongoing,” Anene said.
